Here is today's podcast in blog post form. :)

As we begin a new year, we often look back on the previous year and consider the trials and hard times that we went through.  And then we hope for a new year minus the bad times.  Those tough times.  The rough patches.  They are often not our favorite memories of that year.

We may hope for a smooth year – one full of good only.  But like it says in Matthew – “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house…”  Will that be “my house” this year?  Will that be “your house”?  Obviously, we can’t predict or see into the future of what is coming our way.  There is, however, one thing we can predict!

What happens to “our house” when the storm hits can be predicted!  The rest of that verse says…”and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”  You will never be able to fully protect your home from storms but you can make sure it is on a good foundation before the storm hits.

And that foundation is Jesus.  It says in that chapter – “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”  What a great truth to start out 2016!

So today’s challenge is one that my husband gave to our church at the end of 2015.  He said at the top of your calendar this year, write these words at the top – “God’s Will”.  You see, you may be able to “schedule” your life out on paper but you won’t be able to “schedule” if good or bad happens.  You can though whatever comes your way – live your life according to God’s will.  Put God’s will first this year in 2016.

Will you take the challenge?

  1. THIS IS SO TRUE...UNLESS WE HAVE A SURRENDERED WILL THE LORD CANNOT LEAD US..AND HIS WILL IS NOT ALWAYS OUR WILL......EVEN JESUS SAID IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN,,,NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE....

Happy 45th Birthday, Eric!

Happy birthday to my husband, Eric!   He turns 45 today.  I am surprising him with tickets to a Miami Dolphins game in Miami.  I got him tickets one other time years ago when we lived in Reno.  We drove to Oakland to see the Dolphins play the Raiders.  I think this will be a great memory for him and a home game too! Happy birthday, babe!

Recipe: Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan This is a delicious recipe from Magnolia Table: Volume 2. 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts  1/4 tsp. kosher salt 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper 2 large eggs 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 sleeve (30-40) buttery crackers, crushed 4 oz. Parmesan cheese, grated (about 1 cup) 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup mayo 1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley (optional) Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. (I cut the chicken breasts in half to make thinner.).  Season with salt and pepper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and garlic salt until combined.  In another bowl, combine the crackers and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan. Dredgs each chicken breast in the egg mixture, then in the cracker mixture, and set the chicken aside on a plate. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of the oil over medium heat.  Add 2 pieces of the chicken and cook until the cracker coating is crispy and golden brown, 3 or 4 minutes on each side.  Remove to a sheet pan or b...
