Christmas Fun

I think the day after Thanksgiving is one of the best days of the year. :)  We usually enjoy eating all the Thanksgiving leftovers!  Mmm...Thanksgiving leftovers are just the best.  No cooking...just eating and enjoying!

We also enjoy decorating our Christmas tree.  Isn't that fun?  We turn on the fireplace, eat Christmas cookies and drink egg nog, crank up the Christmas music and go to work on the tree. :)

Then after the tree is decorated and the boxes put away...we pick a Christmas movie to enjoy.  (My top two favorites are It's A Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street.)

Eat more.  Maybe watch a second movie with the lights off - just the tree.  Cuddle in a blanket.

This year, for the first time since we moved to Nevada in 2008, we get to be with my family.  We are in the Portland, OR area and this year will be much different than our normal Friday after Thanksgiving traditions.  We are hoping to do a trip to the ocean! :)  So more updates and photos to come!

I hope you are having a fun filled day with special traditions with the ones you love.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...
