Thanksgiving Favor: Blessing Mix

This Thanksgiving season, I got the items to do this little treat for the seniors of our church.  The girls actually made the mix, bagged it and put it together.

It is called Thanksgiving Blessing mix.  The recipe is:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bugles brand corn snacks
  • 2 cups small pretzels
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup dried raisins
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1 cup M&Ms-brand chocolate candy
  • 16 Hershey's-brand chocolate kisses
  • Blessings Mix gift tags

In a large bowl, gently mix all the ingredients except the Hershey's kisses.
Place 1/3 to 1/2 cup Thanksgiving Blessing Mix in snack size Ziploc bags. Add one Hershey's Kiss to each bag.
Add a printable gift tag or bag topper, or hand-write your own tags with the wording below.
Cut out tags, and attach one to each bag.
Makes 16 Blessing Mix gift bags.
I also printed the poem out and handed it out with the bags.

These are what ours looked like.  I handed them out at our JOY ministry to all the seniors. :)
This would be a nice favor to place at the dinner table for your guests, something to give to your neighbors or a fun thing to do with your kids and grandkids on Thanksgiving.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...
