Busy holiday weekends...

What a busy weekend before Christmas we had!
Friday evening was the Christmas play.
Saturday was cleaning up from the play at the church.  Then cleaning at my house for company.

We had the Traynors, Mussers and Papa Vern over for dinner Saturday evening.  I ordered pizza (there was just way too much other work to cook!), Jenny brought a salad and we enjoyed a black forest chocolate cake and a special banana cake (brought all the way from IL from Shannon just for me!) with vanilla ice cream and coffee.  (That coffee...a mistake because I couldn't fall asleep then!)  But boy, was the banana cake delicious!  I TRULY enjoyed every bite of it!!  What a special and thoughtful thing to do!

Enjoying a clean and quiet house before the family arrives!

And a cup of coffee and the tree.

Sunday was a flurry of busyness!  So much to do from greeting...taking attendance...singing on the worship team...teaching and running Kid City program...lunch and more cleaning in the afternoon...making dinner for family - parmesan chicken, hash brown casserole and corn-yum!

Everyone was in a joyful mood that day at church - what fun to be with the people of the Lord on His day!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...
