My Journey to a New Home

This post has been a long time coming.  I know.

Let's begin back in 2008...

That May, we moved from Schererville, IN to Reno, NV.  Our oldest, Addie, was 4, Autumn was 2 and Sierra was eight months old.  What excitement we had to move west!  We had a dream of moving to Reno and starting a church.  We were a young family with great hopes and a big love for God and ministry.

We bought our home in August 2008 and started Sierra View Baptist Church in June 2010. What a happy time it was.  We loved Reno -  it was a wonderful place to raise a family.  And starting a church was probably the most tremendous experience I will ever have in my life.

So when we were approached and asked if we would ever move to Ohio...there really wasn't a second thought.  And the first thought was no.

That was November 2018.  There were months of discussion, prayer, visits and eleven straight days of fasting.

Fast forward to April.  We received the call that the church voted us in - would we accept the offer?

I remember exactly where I was when my husband called me to tell me they voted us in.  One of the girls was at softball practice at Raleigh Heights.  I had taken our border collie, Max, up the hill to run and explore while we were waiting.  I stood there looking over the city of Reno, the Sierras towering over the city in the distance.  Snow still covering them.
We were going to do it.  We were leaving Reno to move to Ohio.

We couldn't believe we were leaving our baby.  We had put our heart, soul and life into Sierra View Baptist Church.  It was everything who we were for nine years.  Everything.  You see, when you start a church, your life is the church.  So to leave the church...is to truly leave our life.

Yet, here it is nearing the end of September and I'm just getting around to sharing about it.  I wanted to share this epic and emotional journey, every thought and detail, yet I couldn't at the time.  And now that our Nevada life seems so far gone...and our Ohio life is settling in around us...I'm OK to just keep it to myself.
This journey. Our journey.  My journey.

I think I would sum up this very short, abbreviated post (with all its unsaid emotions and stories) with this:

"Every life experience can bring a new awareness of God's working in our lives."
And that is truly the thought I go back to since that first message in November to today, Sept. 20, 2019.

Happy 45th Birthday, Eric!

Happy birthday to my husband, Eric!   He turns 45 today.  I am surprising him with tickets to a Miami Dolphins game in Miami.  I got him tickets one other time years ago when we lived in Reno.  We drove to Oakland to see the Dolphins play the Raiders.  I think this will be a great memory for him and a home game too! Happy birthday, babe!

Recipe: Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan This is a delicious recipe from Magnolia Table: Volume 2. 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts  1/4 tsp. kosher salt 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper 2 large eggs 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 sleeve (30-40) buttery crackers, crushed 4 oz. Parmesan cheese, grated (about 1 cup) 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup mayo 1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley (optional) Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. (I cut the chicken breasts in half to make thinner.).  Season with salt and pepper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and garlic salt until combined.  In another bowl, combine the crackers and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan. Dredgs each chicken breast in the egg mixture, then in the cracker mixture, and set the chicken aside on a plate. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of the oil over medium heat.  Add 2 pieces of the chicken and cook until the cracker coating is crispy and golden brown, 3 or 4 minutes on each side.  Remove to a sheet pan or b...
