There is a devotional I read this week that I would like to share with you...
At the time when the Golden Gate Bridge was built in the '30's, the engineers believed it could withstand any magnitude earthquake. It was decided that it needed to be reinforced. However, to do so, it had to remain strong, usable and safe during that process until it was complete.
So a two rivet rule was put in place. Saying, no more than two rivets at a time could be removed. This ensured that if an earthquake were to happen during the reinforcing process, the bridge would remain intact.
The two rivet rule can be a helpful principle in life as well. If you try to alter too many areas at once or try to put in place too many changes in your life, you may become overwhelmed and discouraged.
So whenever possible, only change a few things in life at a time. Give yourself time to adjust and adapt to that change before you move on to another change. Help ensure that you will stay strong and usable in whatever role God has placed you.
