Wednesday - Thrift Store Time

Wednesday was our last full day together before my mom leaves.  The original plan was to go swimming at the Sparks Marina.  However, it was another cloudy and cool day - not exactly swimming weather.  So we did what women do when your plans change...you go shopping. :)  Then lunch at BK.


We like to go to the thrift store when Mom is here.  I found these two organizational containers for hanging folders.  I also found a cute garbage can for my office work.  I spent the afternoon and most of the evening organizing the school folders as well as working on office to-do's, paying bills, checking e-mails, etc. 



Dinner was easy - German crockpot dinner.  Red potatoes, smoked sausage, and sauerkraut.  
Talking, playing games, watching Leave It To Beaver, sitting on the deck.  Nana's visit has come to a close.

    Hey, sure enjoyed the talk with kids yesterday. I don't think any of them knew who they were talking to. I can't believe how Summer can talk. Addie sounded so old. It was fun. Do that again sometime. Aunt Connie

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
