Autumn's 16th Backyard Fall Party

For Autumn's birthday, we decided to go with a backyard evening fall party.

A couple of days early, I played around how I wanted to set up the decor with what I already had.

I loved how the white lights and tables settings turned out.

I forgot to get a few pictures before we started the party but here are a few after a lot went on.  Ha!

I liked how the tables turned out.  This was the table to hold the dessert - apple pie as well as the apple cider and popcorn.

Those pine cones, acorns and pine greenery - all collected for free. :)
During the movie, I served apple cider and bowls of popcorn.

A little blurry but you can still make out one of the two homemade apple pies I made for dessert along with vanilla bean ice cream.

The lighting made my photos a little blurry but still looked good. :)  I made Parmesan crusted chicken, cottage mashed potatoes and Caesar salad - all Autumn's choices.  Sweet tea for the beverage.
Rachel and I served everyone like it was a fancy meal at a restaurant and the kids loved it.

After the meal and presents, we had an outdoor movie night.  Fun!

101 Dalmatains!

It was a super fun and neat party!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
