Settling in to College Life

More of our college trip...

Learning how to work the combination on her college mailbox.

I love these filtered fountains for water bottles.

I think all the college kids beat us to the pillow section at Wal-Mart. Ha!

Finishing her unpacking of her things after our trip to Wal-Mart for needed items.

At 6:30pm, she had a voice audition for a class.  She was very nervous but did great!  That is her waiting to the left.

After the audition, we had dinner at the campus Chick-Fil-A. :)

This is the Commons - so pretty at night. :)

This is Addie's dorm at night.

Friday morning started out rainy.

Did a little more shopping around.  Autumn will be glad they have a Five Below!

The campus on Friday - much more busy with lots of people moving in!

Her roommates arrived on Friday and we were also able to find a bedset.  The one she had ordered from Amazon was not what she thought it was.

Setting up her bedset and lights and decor.

We had lunch with Pastor and Mrs. Mason along with their daughter who attends PCC, another freshman student from Timberline, her mom and their friend at BJ's.

Addie had an appointment to submit paperwork for her job at 2pm and then we went to the book sale to buy the books she needs for her classes.  Actually, we rented them.

She got her first letter in the mail - from my mom. :)

We decided to eat at Four Winds for dinner - one of their dining halls.

For students, they simply scan their ID card and the turnstyle will release to let them in.

Eating dinner at Four Winds. :)

I dropped Addie off at her dorm at 6:30pm Friday after we ate dinner.  She had a work meeting for her on-campus job at 7pm.  Then they had an event for all freshman at 8:30pm - food, games and fellowship so they could get to know each other.  There was no reason for me to stay on campus since she had things to go to.  I took a few photos on my way out.

This is the campus church.

This is one of the dining halls, Four Winds.  Addie works here.

On my way out, I was able to say hi to a friend from my college days, Stacy.  Stacy and I were freshmen together at HAC.  We were on the same bus route in Chicago.  Stacy has a son that is also a freshman here at PCC.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
