My Lawn Journey!

Can you believe that this is the last week of September?  I had to take a picture of my last rose in my backyard.  It is getting cooler.  Our rain will be coming back soon.  Time for things to die for a season.

Sleeping babies.  Little baby.

And the big baby.  Ha!

This last week of September, we are getting back to a regular week after our September birthdays.  We had some rain this weekend which is wonderful!  We hardly get any rain in the summer so when the fall hits, we start to get rain again.

Thought I would share the journey of my lawn.  Ha!  When we moved here, it was full of weeds and a ton of clover.  I put down weed killer and well, there went the whole lawn!  It was literally ALL weeds and clover.

When all the clover and weeds were dead, I raked it all and tried to get up all that dead stuff.
Then I added some Miracle Grow soil and put down seed.

After my trip to Pensacola, we finally have some grass coming in!

The progression of growth!

Next set of photos.  I went through the whole lawn and tried to get all the crabgrass and weeds out - again.  By hand.  Once I took a few days to do that, I reseeded the areas that were thin or bare.

Felt good to get all those weeds out!  Get that good grass growing!

Next set of progression photos mid-September.

Slowly but surely, it is coming in!
The next set is right before Autumn's birthday.  I finally mowed to even it out.  Beautiful green color and getting quite thick. :)

Quite the difference!  I am proud of my lawn journey.  LOL!  Something satisfying about it. :)

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
