Sauder Village #2

Spring and summer at Sauder Village are so neat!  Here are some more photos of the village for you to enjoy.

This is St. Mark's Lutheran Church - Building #9.  This early 1900s church building depicts the religious life of the German Lutherans who helped settle this region.

They often have an organist who will play hymns on the church organ when you visit.

This is the inside of the W.O. Taylor Printing Office-Building #15.  It is a reproduction of the community of Archbold's first newspaper office.  Here you can see how printing was done in the early 1900s.

At Sauders Village, they also have a fairly large museum - Building #11B - with all kinds of items to see and read about to learn about the history of this area.

It takes a good while to really see it all but it is worth it.

One of my favorite buildings is Lauber's General Store and Herb Shop-Building #12.  The smell when you walk in is so unique and I love it!

A neat shopping experience and a place to find a little souvenir to take home from the village.  This store brings you back to an era when all of your shopping was done in one spot.  They have a wide selection of collectibles, penny candy, hard-to-find kitchen items, toys, herbs, teas, and more!

The herb selection smells so good!

This photo is one of the buckets handmade in the village at the Black Swamp Cooperage - Building #6.  When you visit, you can see the coopers use tools and methods that have changed little over the centuries to make buckets and barrels.  Fascinating and beautiful work!

Happy 45th Birthday, Eric!

Happy birthday to my husband, Eric!   He turns 45 today.  I am surprising him with tickets to a Miami Dolphins game in Miami.  I got him tickets one other time years ago when we lived in Reno.  We drove to Oakland to see the Dolphins play the Raiders.  I think this will be a great memory for him and a home game too! Happy birthday, babe!

Recipe: Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan This is a delicious recipe from Magnolia Table: Volume 2. 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts  1/4 tsp. kosher salt 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper 2 large eggs 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 sleeve (30-40) buttery crackers, crushed 4 oz. Parmesan cheese, grated (about 1 cup) 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup mayo 1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley (optional) Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. (I cut the chicken breasts in half to make thinner.).  Season with salt and pepper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and garlic salt until combined.  In another bowl, combine the crackers and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan. Dredgs each chicken breast in the egg mixture, then in the cracker mixture, and set the chicken aside on a plate. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of the oil over medium heat.  Add 2 pieces of the chicken and cook until the cracker coating is crispy and golden brown, 3 or 4 minutes on each side.  Remove to a sheet pan or b...
