Goodbye January!

Well, January has flown the coop as they say!  Doesn't January always seem SO long?  I think it does.  Living in Florida now - it isn't as depressing and sad so I am grateful for that.  But it still seems long! Today is the last day of January here in Jacksonville, FL and it is going to be sunny and 81 degrees!  I will definitely take it.  Don't be fooled - this January, we had some VERY cold weather.  It killed off my plants and we sure used the fireplace a lot!  But I think we have turned a corner into more pleasant weather and I am not complaining.  Even though the cool weather can be enjoyable. :) I can't wait to get into my garden beds again!  I know, it seems early but not here in Florida.  Ready to plant some flowers as well.  I think my biggest memories from January will be our New Years family trip to Georgia, the inauguration of President Trump and the epic snowfall in Pensacola, FL! How was your January? ...

Inauguration Day 2025!

Monday, January 20 Weather alerts for our area here in Jacksonville, FL and for Pensacola, FL. I knew to expect hurricane warnings but never winter storm warnings! The college president went to online classes for the girls.  Their second day of classes for their spring semester! Our day was busy here in Jax.  Sierra worked from 8-3pm.  Summer and I went into the Collective Influence office (where my husband works) and did some cleaning for several hours. I listened to the inauguration while I cleaned.  So fun!   I am greatly looking forward to a change in America.  We are in desperate need.  I am grateful God chose to give us a new leadership closer to our Christian values. My favorite fruit!  What is yours? Tracking this storm and anticipating what it could mean. Been a long day.  Ready for bed.  I always crack up at Nugget watching the Litter Robot do its work.  She's so curious!

Snow day in Florida!

On Tuesday, January 21, 2024, our girls experienced an epic snow day at their college in Pensacola Christian College! All time snowiest day in Pensacola 7.6 inches!   All-time snowiest day - previous record 2.3 inches on March 6, 1954. Matches previous 81 years combined.  7.7 inches recorded in total from 1944 - January 20, 2025. Autumn and Lauren enjoying hot cocoa provided by Papa Shoe! Addie and Kylee making snow angels! Brad sporting his pom pom beanie. Snow on the flowers and palm trees. Snow on Pensacola Beach! Roomies 2024-25!  Lauren, Kylee, Addie and Autumn Love this picture!  It was taken by a yearbook staff person and posted on PCC's social medua sites.  This is Addie in the center.  I love her big smile! Students enjoying the snow day! Such an epic memory! Papa and Mrs. Shoe hanging out with the students on this snow day!  He is the President of the college.  They set up fire pits and hot cocoa stations for the students....

Hymn Sing 2025!

Friday, January 17 Definitely using my fireplace this January - even in Florida!!  Today was a regular day of school.  Even got down to the gym. Summer reading while doing her PE. Made a new recipe egg roll in a bowl.  I think I would have liked it but I used ground turkey and it lacked the flavor.  The recipe also called for sriacha and I didn't like that in it at all.  So if I make it again, I would make some adjustments. Also made egg drop soup. Then we left to go to the Hymn Sing 2025 concert by Gerald Wolfe at our church.  Summer and I were greeters at one of the doors. We enjoyed it so much!  What a blessing and a great night we had together! Saturday, January 18 I had a great start to my Saturday!  I got a lot done before 9am which feels so good. Eric and I took the whole morning to go over our finances - our investments.    If you have kids, you will probably find an empty plate like this in your fridge.  Ha! For dinner, I m...
