Warm and Muggy December Weekend :)

 Saturday, December 2

Today, Sierra and Summer will be working on a few tests and papers for school.

I will be going to Walmart to get groceries for this upcoming week.

It is another very warm and humid day.  Light sprinkles and all the clouds are holding the heat and humidity on us.  We have all the windows open in the house.  Hopefully, it breaks soon and we get the cooler temps and sunshine back. :)

After grocery shopping, I took a shower and got ready.  We watched The Grinch and Autumn did my hair.  I made chicken stir fry for an early dinner.

At 4:15pm, we left for a Christmas concert at Riverside Presbyterian Church near downtown Jax.  When we went to park, our phones went off with a tornado watch alert!  We got inside before the storm hit.  Lightning, crazy thunder, rain and wind.  You could see the lightning through the stain glass windows and hear the huge booms above the choir voices.

The concert was beautiful.  The Don Chorale sang several numbers first.  Then the First Wind Symphony did several pieces.  They did a couple together.

I truly, truly love hearing choirs and symphonies perform.  It is so beautiful, relaxing, and renewing.  Especially this time of the year.  They had many songs too about our Lord.

After the concert, we got home, cleaned the kitchen, and then watched Prancer.

Sunday, December 3

Church this morning.  I am packing and preparing to leave for four days.  I will be working at an event that my husband's company is having in Atlanta, GA.  The event is Tuesday and Wednesday.  Monday, I will drive to Atlanta and then the crew will be setting up Monday.  Eric and I will drive back home on Thursday.

Tonight, we are going to a Christmas program at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.  It is from 6-8pm.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
