What Are Your Menu Plans for the Christmas Holiday Weekend?

Monday, December 18
Monday, the long weekend storm finally moved on and we woke up to cooler temperatures!  It was so nice to have clear skies and sunshine again.

Eric flew back home from Atlanta.  I picked him up from the airport at 10:30am.  I spent some time transferring all the digitized home videos onto the new passport I got just for that.
Addie was still pretty sick and vomiting.
School - Day 82.  We are getting close to finishing up the nine weeks and fall semester.  Just a few more days!

For dinner, I made tuna noodle casserole.  I also finished up my menu for the week and the holiday and completed my grocery list.

What are you all making for the holiday weekend?

For Christmas Eve, I am making sirloin steaks (and one lamb chop for the hubby), twice-baked potato casserole, grilled asparagus, and creamy corn casserole.  I am also making puppy chow for a special treat.

For Christmas day, I am making hearty breakfast egg bake.  This is a great casserole you make the night before and just pull out and bake for a hot and hearty breakfast.  Great for Christmas morning!

For dinner, I am making corned beef and cabbage, sourdough dinner rolls, and peach cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream.  What is great with corned beef is you throw it in the crockpot and it cooks all day and is ready for dinner.  This will be nice so I am not up and down while we are opening gifts and trying to cook at the same time.  Our family loves corned beef and cabbage!!
The dinner rolls can be made the day before and just pulled out, rise, and bake for hot and yummy homemade rolls!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
