On our way to Tennessee, I planned a visit to the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. It is located in Flat Rock, NC and was right along our way.
This is the view of his home from the parking area. So very beautiful.
We were unable to get tickets to tour the inside of his actual home. But they had a little replica room in the visitor center which we enjoyed.
And yes, I got my passport stamp for my National Parks book! Hooray - another place visited.
I really didn't know much about Carl Sandburg until this visit. We learned that his wife raised goats here. And if you know me, I love goats! This was such a unique aspect of this historical site.
Paradise. Country living. Red barns. Goats. Cats. An unmatched view.
And a corn crib! Just like my Grandma used to have.
Oh, and a garden!! Did I say this was paradise?
Isn't he cute?
Country lane.
Beautiful white home! That front porch. :) And what a view from the home!
Wouldn't you love these porches????
So many nice windows!
Those bookshelves!
They had a nice video that we watched. We learned a lot!
SO much to read, see and learn!
What a wonderful visit we had! I highly recommend anyone passing by to stop and visit this site!
