Devotional: There Is A River

Often when I have a very busy week, it leads me to feelings of anxiousness and restlessness.  Such has been the month of February.  We have been in the middle of a big move for our church.

Last night, my husband arrived home after Community Outreach, working at the new facility and attending the start of a new area church...he shook my hand and said, "Hi, I'm Eric."  Such explains the month. LOL!

So, in the midst of this busy and crazy time, there has to be a place that we can go to...a place of that will sustain you with strength and nourishment for your soul.

A favorite Psalm I love to read has this verse in it:
"There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High."

You see, many cities have rivers running through them.  It is a way to "sustain" the city making trade possible with other cities as well as making agriculture possible.

Yet, Jerusalem has no such river.  What sustained Jerusalem?  GOD.  Wow.  What an amazing thought!

What will sustain you?  GOD.

Whatever circumstance of life you may be in...perhaps a life illness, a ministry move, a job change, infertility, or perhaps just the complex busyness of normal life...go to God.
HE is the river to sustain you with strength and nourishment for your soul.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...
