A Wonderful Weekend!!

Greetings September!  OK, tomorrow is actually September but I am so excited it is almost here!

Saturday, August 31

My heirloom tomato seeds have tiny little sprouts!  Hooray!

And look at my winter squash!

We are watching Miss Whitney just overnight.  She is such a sweetie.

Jackson is a cute old man.

Just some fun memories that came up today on Facebook.  Camping with Papa Tastet.

Dirty little feet.  That's a healthy way to parent. :)

Just a slow Saturday.  Eric mowed the lawn and I did some weeding.  We went to Home Depot and got fire ant killer and weed/feed.  He put that down on the lawn as well.

We then went to dinner at the Martins - they picked up Chinese.  And then went to see the movie Reagan which was very good.  When we got home, the girls all facetimed with Addie, Autumn and Kylee.  Late night.

Sunday, September 1

Sierra and Summer left early for church.  Sierra was working First Touch which is the folks that greet everyone as they come in and work the visitor booths.  Summer sang on the Praise Team and had to be there at 8:10am for practice.

Connection Groups at 9:30am and church at 10:45am.  It was so good to be back singing in the choir!  Here is our service if you would like to watch. :)

Then it was off to the beach for beach baptism and a youth activity.  (Separate post!)

God is good!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
