Summer's Baptism!

Sunday, September 22

Today is the first official day of autumn!  I'm sure it is no surprise that autumn is my absolute favorite season.  So I am SO glad it is here!

When I checked on my girls to make sure they were up for church, I excitedly told them - It is 68 degrees!  Ha!  I know, big whoop.  But it is the first time since last spring it has been under 70 degrees!

Before church, I made a pot of bean soup using a little variation of the normal recipe.  It just felt so good cooking and in the fall mood.  I finished it and put it in the crockpot to keep warm through church.

For the Connection Group time, Summer and Eric went to the baptism class.  One of the ladies in our class came up to me and asked if I was Summer's mom.  She mentioned that she sat beside her in the choir during our revival and how sweet she was!  It is a blessing when adults come to you and mention good things about your children.  Then it was off to sing in the choir for the church service.  During the service, Eric was able to baptize Summer.  I had tears running down my face.  God is SO very good.  HIS grace is all over our family and I couldn't be more grateful!

Here is the link to watch the service and her baptism!

Westside Baptist Church - September 22, 2024

It was another good sermon from the book of Revelation.  When home, we had the creamy bean and kielbasa soup along with Summer's deluxe grilled cheese sandwiches.  MMM!

The girls and I then sat on the patio at the picnic table and worked on some school items that I wanted to finish up.  After that, the girls went to youth group and then out to eat with some friends after youth group.

I made out my menu and grocery list for this week and then did some blogging.  A good day!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
