Disney Family Vacation 2024 - Day One - Canaveral National Seashore

Every trip in the south has a Buc-ees stop in it!

Family Vacation 2024
On our way to Orlando, we went to Canaveral National Seashore.  I want to visit all the national park sites in Florida and surrounding states while we live here and this one is pretty close to Orlando so we worked it in on our way there.

This is the river where we got to see dolphins swimming and coming up out of the water!  It was super cool and I loved it!

Can you see them?

So driving through this area, we noticed something super crazy!  Look hard in the center.  That is a spider - a huge spider that web crosses over the road!  Gah!

Can you see it!!  They were all over.

This was a house museum that was part of the visitor center.

I just love reading the history of places like this.

A cat!  Love it!

The mosquitoes were sooooo bad!  We had to run to try and get away from them but still got eaten up.

We ate our lunches we packed at the visitor center.

Canaveral National Seashore is unique in that it is the longest stretch of undeveloped Atlantic coastline in Florida.  Canaveral National Seashore contains nearly 58,000 acres of barrier island, open lagoon, coastal hammock, pine flatwoods, and offshore waters. With 24 miles of pristine beach, it is a prime habitat for many threatened and endangered species providing nesting beaches for several thousand protected marine turtles. Two-thirds of the park is in Mosquito Lagoon. The lagoon is designated an estuary of national significance and an outstanding Florida water. It is one of the most diverse and productive estuaries in North America. The national seashore also contains cultural resources that reflect human history in the Florida peninsula from 2000 BC to early 20th century Florida settlement.

The ocean side is absolutely gorgeous!

I could have spent the whole vacation there with a book just soaking it in.

My family. :). Summer, Autumn, Addie, Sierra, and Eric

Warm but beautiful day!  I love this photo.

So many turtles!

Getting their Junior Ranger badges and patches.

Another national site in the books!
Well worth the time to visit!

The girls and all their mosquito bites from Mosquito Lagoon!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
