My Week: September 18-24

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!  This week begins my favorite season - autumn!  (I even named one of my girls Autumn. :)  Her birthday is this week.  I hope you enjoy reading about my week here in Reno, NV.

Sunday dawned bright and early.  I enjoyed a cup of coffee, my devotions and then got ready for the day.
First service-sing in Praise and Worship and then nursery time.
Second service-sing in Praise and Worship and then enjoy the sermon by my hubby.
He is preaching a series "Church and Culture".  It is so hard in the age we live to balance this.  I have enjoyed thinking about this.

After lunch, we had white bean and chicken enchilada soup.  I made it Saturday evening and just put it in the crock pot Sunday morning to heat through.  I like those meals to make it quick and easy on Sunday afternoon.

After lunch, I left the kitchen and dishes to the girls and I went to do my plasma donation.  It was pretty quick compared to last Sunday!  One hour and fifteen minutes. :)  I treated myself to a strawberry lemonade on the way home.

Back to church for nursery duty and then off to work at 8pm.

Monday morning - off at 8am.  Met my husband at the gym - whew!  For some reason that was a hard workout.
After the workout, I decided to do my weekly grocery shopping trip at Winco.  Oh man.  I don't know why...but I just dread grocery shopping.  LOL!  I thought, might as well get it done!  I had my menu made out and my grocery list...so off I went.
As I was finishing up, my husband called - I had to go back to the gym.  He had locked his keys in the van and wanted me to take the van.  Well, he forgot to tell me and I took his car and left him with the van.
By the time I got home, I was in desperate need of a sip of coffee!

Winco had ten pounds of ground beef on sale for $9.99!  I haven't seen that price of $.99 in years - I'm not kidding!  So I bought 20 lbs!  Autumn and I cut it up in 1 lb. sections and put in freezer baggies.

My pretty purple flowers that bloom in the fall. :)

My lily is blooming also!  I was surprised to see that.

I have enjoyed all my cherry tomatoes on my salads and in my dishes this summer.

Ahh...that sip of coffee I needed! :)

Working on school Monday.  All caught up with grading and all tests/quizzes done for Monday.  Completed the first grading period for Summer. :)

After school, I made dinner.  I tried a new recipe for a side dish...Herbed potatoes and veggies.

1 bag frozen southern hash browns
1 1/2 cups diced zucchini
3 tbsp.olive oil
seasoning (I use McCormick's California Style Garlic Pepper with Red Bell and Black Pepper)
20 cherry tomatoes (halved)

Cook the first four ingredients in a skillet on medium high until cooked through.  Add tomatoes and cook 2-3 minutes longer.

Grilled chicken breasts.  My tip is cut the chicken breasts in half so they are half as thick.  They will cook more evenly and quickly and not have a raw center and burned on the outside.
My favorite BBQ sauce - Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet and Spicy - yum!

I cut up the second package of chicken breasts and I froze them for fajitas and casseroles.

Dinner for Monday!  Yum!  If you are trying to get your kids to eat the veggies, put a little ketchup on the potato dish. :)

My fall bracelet made by my daughter, Sierra.

After dinner, off to a Monday softball game at Mayor's Park.  My daughter seems to bring all her toys to these events. :)

Addie at bat.

Autumn playing third.

Mount Peavine and beautiful sky.

These are the evenings that will soon be gone.
Off to work at 8pm.

Tuesday morning - Off at 8am.
Home for coffee and school.
Shower and ready for the day.
Lunch with my friend, Shannon, at Quiznos at 11am - I love their yummy sandwiches and soup!

I got this magnetic white board for my kitchen!  We have a lot going on each day so this helps everyone know what is on the schedule...and what is for dinner!  Ha!  Summer starts asking that about 9:30 in the morning.

You can never have too many lists! :)
Errands to Office Depot, the post office, and the library.

The girls and I made two quiches for dinner.  Crab, green pepper, mushrooms and cheese for the left.
Smoked sausage, green pepper and cheese for the right.
You can make any variation you want - just add the toppings to six eggs and a cup of milk. :)

Then drop off Aaron and off to practice.
Work at 8pm.

Wednesday, off at 8am.
My husband had an early dentist appt. at 7am so we got home about the same time.  Brew a fresh pot of coffee...dear coffee!
Tests and quizzes and grading for the day.  Done!
Shower and get ready.
Housework - make the bed, laundry, ironing, dishes.

Piano lessons from 1-2:30pm.
During that time, I made dinner.  Chicken and swiss wraps.  Let me tell you that story...made dinner.  Left to go pick up the girls.  We got home - the chicken was gone.  Really?!  The dogs had knocked the pan off the stove and ate the entire thing.  Ugh.
Good thing I had some BBQ chicken breasts left to use in the wraps!  Sigh.
Chicken strips, swiss cheese, spinach, cherry tomatoes and avocado...drizzled with a little fat free ranch.  Tomato soup on the side.  Yum!

Drop off the girls at the house and off to a dentist appt for Sierra at 3.  Thankfully, just a cleaning.

It really looked like it was going to storm.  And the clouds blew away.  Boo!

Pick up the Bialys and drop them and Addie off for Youth Group.
Workout at the gym with the hubby and off to work!

First day of fall!  One of the happiest days of the year. :)

Thursday was super busy!  Off at 8am.  My plasma donation.  Thankfully, I got in very quickly!  Yay!
Home for a quick shower and then off to Autumn's dentist appointment.  She had to have a procedure done.  Thankfully, one hour and fifteen minutes and we were done. :)
One the way home, it was spitting rain.  Hardly anything - boo!!

We had time to stop at the library.

I got her lunch at Wendy's. :)  This girl always is reading.

In the afternoon, my husband and I worked on the church bulletin and my Harvest Party handout.  I was happy to get that accomplished.
View from the office...looks threatening when in fact, it never rained.
Practice was cancelled since we had three practices or games already scheduled for the week.
What to do????  Ha!  It had been forever since we have ALL been home for an evening at the same time.  We either have work, a rehearsal, a wedding, the gym, youth group, softball practice or game, church, church activity.
It was so nice!  The girls wanted to watch a movie together so we did. :)

Friday morning began with this verse which is so good.  Don't we all need this and wouldn't it be wonderful if we all did this?

Friday morning was a taste of fall!  32 degrees!
The hubby and I headed out at 7am for Sacramento.

We wanted to visit Maria and Tom who were in the hospital there at UC Davis and Shriners Children Hospital.

On the way over the pass, the clouds were so beautiful over Donner Lake.

This is Shriners Hospital.

Pray for Maria and her family as they have to make some pretty tough decisions in the next year.

This is UC Davis Hospital.  Tom, a church member and our next door neighbor, is having some complications.  He had a lot of swelling all over - they had breathing tubes down his throat so that his lungs wouldn't fill up with fluid.  They were giving him plasma while we were there.  Later, he was going to have to do dialysis because his kidneys weren't working.  He is improving.  Pray for Tom and Maria!
He couldn't talk to us.  We just held his hand and talked to him.  Cried.  Prayed.  It's tough.  God is good.

After our visits, we were famished.  We tried this little restaurant and it was a great choice!

We got this dish....a grilled cheese with bacon slices, a cheese skirt, two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce topped with avocado and fried potatoes on the side.  SOOO good!

They give you the bill in an old book and you can sign a page in the book.

We got home about 4pm.  Then it was off to get some snacks and then to Family Movie Night at the church at 6pm.
It was a lot of fun!  LeAne made butter popcorn and Keren made caramel and chocolate drizzed popcorn for everyone.  We watched God's Not Dead 2.  Very good movie!

After the movie, we cleaned the building and then finished printing the bulletins and Harvest Party handouts and preparing them for Sunday.

Saturday morning, off to the gym at 8am!
Softball warm-ups at 9:45am.

Softball game at 10:45am.  I have my softball necklace on along with the bracelet my daughter made me with their team colors - purple and black.

It was Autumn's 11th birthday!
Lunch at Wendy's.

My husband had a wedding at 3pm.  The girls and I had some shopping to accomplish while he was there.  Addie used her gift card from Papa Vern for her birthday for some new shoes. :)  Then it was off to the pumpkin patch for Autumn's birthday.

After the pumpkin patch, we did the corn maze.

Finally 7:30pm.  Home sweet home.  Good night.  Hope you had a great week as well!
