Getting ready to go on our first camping trip here in Florida! Believe it or not, 60 degrees is pretty cool for us already!

We have reservations at Fort Clinch State Park. They have two small campgrounds - one is on the river and one is on the beach for the Atlantic Ocean. We stayed at the beach campground.
There was a classic car show at the fort that day so there were many people going into the park.
Sandy campsites and not too much shade but nice campground.

We set up camp earlier than I expected - yay! We then made lunch - sub sandwiches and chips.
After we unloaded at the campsite and had lunch, we went to tour Fort Clinch.
The first part is the small museum with the history of the fort along with a video.

Do you recall ramparts from the Star-Spangled Banner? This is what it is. It's a defensive wall of a castle or walled city, having a broad top with a walkway and typically a stone parapet.
I also love the view through the wall!

This was my second visit to the fort and I enjoyed it! If you are ever in NE Florida, take time to visit!
