My Week: August 28 - September 1

Monday, August 28 - New week!  It is always good to start out a new week with a good start.  Sunday evening, even though I had a migraine the past two days, I got the dishes done, the kitchen cleaned, swept and mopped, and took out the garbage.  I prepared for this week of school and updated my calendars.

School - Day 11!

It is nice to wake up and enjoy your area in your home.  I then had to pick up Eric from the airport at 10 a.m.  He was coming back from a work event in New York City.

I then went to Aldi and Wal-Mart for groceries.  I couldn't figure out why it was so busy and then my sister said, Uh, hurricane!  LOL!

Monday morning sunrise.

Made a new recipe - Chicken Pot Pie Soup.  It was ok but I probably won't make it again.

Everyone grabbing water at the store.

Having the ambiance of the music and pretty scenes always calms me in my day.

Keeping updated on Hurricane Idalia.  This is a first-time experience for us living now in Florida.

Tuesday, August 29 - Today, we are preparing for the wind and rain that we will be receiving from Hurricane Idalia.  Eric and Autumn went to work today.  They have already canceled school at Autumn's place of employment for tomorrow.  I am glad she will not have to travel tomorrow and will be able to stay home.
They have also canceled youth group and Bible study for tomorrow as well.

Our daughter, Addie, is also in Florida in Pensacola.  They aren't in the path of Idalia.  They are well taken care of there.  The college has generators and even its own water tower if anything does happen there.  They simply shelter in place.

School - Day 12!

Finished an audiobook.

Addie at college.

Fall colors in Florida?

Getting prepared for power outages with our bonnet and book.  Ha!!

Wednesday, August 30 - Well, hurricane/tropical storm day has arrived.  Hurricane Idalia has strengthened to Category 4.  It is hitting on the gulf side of Florida.  We are doing fine here in Jacksonville.  We have wind and they are predicting 1-2 inches of rain for us.  We also have a tornado watch for today.  Eric's company is working from home today and the school where Autumn works is closed so she is home today as well.  We will be staying at home today safe.
Our daughter, Addie, is in Pensacola, FL in college.  They are safe from the hurricane as well.  We praise God for His safety for our family.

School - Day 13!

Part of the fence that came down.

Made breakfast for everyone - something we don't do often.

Well, the ending of Hurricane/Tropical Storm day!

Thursday, August 31 - Last day of August!  Yay!
Well, Idalia has passed and to be honest, it was quite a letdown here where we lived.  With all the hype of a hurricane, we expected more crazy weather.  We have definitely had worse storms since we lived in here in Florida.  The wind was nothing like the winds we used to have in Nevada.  So all in all, it was just a pretty normal day minus everyone was home on a weekday.

The supermoon!

Today is Day 14 for school.  I will be doing laundry, cleaning house, packing and later, a few last minute errands for Ohio.

Friday, September 1 - Tuesday, September 5 - We will be Ohio.  I will share that when we get back. :)

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
