Unplanned...Please See It!

A few weeks ago, I took our daughters, Addie and Autumn, to see the movie Unplanned.  I would highly recommend everyone to see this movie.

It is a movie on a true story of how she used to be a clinic director for Planned Parenthood.  Abortion just isn't a topic for adults anymore.  It is a topic that every teenager needs to know about.  This movie is a wonderful starting point for that conversation.  Please, please, please talk to your teens about this subject.

The movie is rated R but it is not for anything appropriate.  There are a few difficult scenes to take in but so necessary.  Either get to the theater to see this or get it when it comes out.  And talk to your kids!  I can't beg or stress this enough.

It is our job as parents to talk to your teens about these subjects.  They need to feel open enough to ask questions.  It is not their school's responsibility or right nor their church or pastor.  It is ours.

Teaching the Easter Story to your Children's Class

Sunday, Autumn and I did our Kid City ministry for Easter Sunday.  I got this set of Resurrection Eggs to use to teach the lesson...I loved it!  You can make your own set or you can purchase a set like these.  I got these from Christianbook.com for $13.  Each egg has a symbol of something in the Easter story - a donkey, a spear, a whip, a crown of thorns, etc. It comes with a story book to help you teach the story using the eggs.

The kids LOVED getting chosen to come to the front, open the egg and show everyone what was inside it as I taught about it.  After I taught the entire lesson, we had a competition boys versus girls.  I created 44 questions from the story and if their team answered correctly, they received an egg in their Easter bucket.  The team with the most eggs at the end won.

The kids were so attentive from the youngest to the oldest and it was a fantastic Easter in Kid City!

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt 2019

Saturday, April 20th, we had our Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt.  The weather was crazy windy and nearly stormed on us but thankfully, the weather held for the hunt.

Summer getting her eggs!

Sierra getting her eggs.

The girls with the Easter Bunny. :)

It was a great event with 250 attending.  What a blessing to serve our community!
Thank you to all the workers of Sierra View who helped and made it happen!

Spring Fix Up Time!

We are in the "spring clean and fix up" mode finally!  It is hard to get things done when it is still freezing and snowing.  LOL!  I am so glad it is finally feeling like spring!

I redid our screens this week.  The screen part was fine.  Just had to put new spline around in the frame. Then got the hubby to put them back on the windows.  Yay!  One job done.  Ready to open those windows for summer breezes!

Another one we worked on was cleaning out the front rock area in our landscaping.  Over the year, it collects leaves, pine needles, dirt, trash, wasp nests...and a lot of it!  The only way to effectively clean it is to take out of the rocks, sweep it clean and replace the rocks.

THIS is what you find under the rocks...yikes!

THIS is what it looks like after you clean out that mess that accumulated!!

Big difference!!  Crazy, right?

And, after we put the rocks back!  Ahh!  Does a heart good to get a project done and it just feels and looks so much better.

The last thing to do here is to put a new coat of stain on the wood and fresh dirt and mulch in the lilac beds.

We also stained the deck and our front fences.  I still have one side to finish up but it is almost done.  The deck is on the third day of curing and then I can set it back up and take a few photos.

Left is what it looked like and right is after applying stain/protectant.

One coat on the deck.

I think it will really make it pop and give it better curb appeal. :)

Second coat of stain on the deck.  Looks pretty dark because the sun was setting.

Another project we worked on was my flower beds at the front.  For some reason, it gets a lot of grass growing around the plants and mulch.  So we worked on those.  Not quite done but getting there!

I love the tulips, day lilies and daffodils I have planted in here.  I want to do more areas with these type of perennials.

Happy Resurrection Day!

Resurrection Day.

The most glorious day we celebrate as Christians.  I hope your day is blessed at the church where you will worship today.  Thank you, Lord!
