Christmas Day 2019

Our Christmas Day 2019, (last Christmas of this decade!) began cool and very foggy here in Toledo, OH.

I had a hard time sleeping.  Summer was throwing up Christmas Eve and wanted to sleep with Eric and I.  So lying between them both and the dog at my feet, it didn't make for very good sleep.  I got up at 5am and did some preparation for that day.  One was chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.

It was nice to sit at the breakfast table with a cup of tea, a pretty candle and the Christmas lights shining through the fog.

Summer still wasn't feeling quite up to par that morning but she was good by noon.

Opening presents Christmas morning. :)

For dinner, my dad and mom came.  They brought the ham along with deviled eggs, a veggie, cheese and olive tray, chips and dip and a lemon meringue pie.

I made the sides:  hash brown casserole, cottage mashed potatoes, baby carrots, collard greens and mac and cheese.  I also did shrimp cocktail and apple pie with vanilla bean ice cream.

The weather was absolutely amazing with a high of 58 here in Ohio!  Sunshine!  It was really nice and cheery. :)

After dishes, we played Phase 10.  It was a lot of fun!

Our four daughters:  Addie, Summer, Autumn and Sierra

Nana and Papa with their granddaughters.  Addie was only 4 yrs. old the last time we spent Christmas all together. She's 16 this year. What a joy it is to be with them again on that special day!

*I have a lot of catching up blog posts in the next couple months from the year 2019...I hope you will enjoy reading about our life from this year!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
