Flat Tires and Sierra Returns to Work

Sunday, October 13

Sunday, Eric and I went to Bro. Bob's Connection Group.  For the morning service, I worked in the baby/toddler nursery.

For lunch, I made Rustic Italian Tortellini Soup.  It was a beautiful day and I had my lunch outside on the patio.

Sierra and Summer worked on nine-week tests on the patio.  Summer had to finish a book for a report, so I kept her home in the evening.  Sierra went to Youth Group.

Monday, October 14

Monday was the last day of the first nine weeks of our school year—day 43.

Having my breakfast and vitamins.

Sierra also returned to work at Chick-fil-A, which had been shut down for months for a huge remodel and recently reopened. Today, she worked from 8 to 3 p.m. Summer and I went down to see her.  I had the banana pudding milkshake and Summer had the coffee drink.

Chunky monkey sleeping. :)

Corned beef and cabbage for dinner. Mmm!

Tuesday, October 15

What a start to this day.

This memory came up on my Facebook. Of course, it had me in tears.  Just remembering this memory one year ago.

Oh Max.  I miss you, buddy.

Eric went to leave for work.  He had a completely flat tire.  A nail/screw in it.  He took my Jeep and left for work.

I called Roadside Assistance, and he came to put the spare on it. I went to Discount Tire. I already knew my tires were going to need new ones very soon. He checked them, and they were at 3/32. I just pulled the trigger and had new ones installed, along with new lug nuts, which I had some cracking.  A hefty bill, $802, but you just know that's adulting.  Now all three vehicles have new or almost new tires from Discount Tire and are covered under their warranty for repairs and rotations.  I really like them.  They are a good company to work with.

That took up a large chunk of my day just getting that taken care of.  But it is done!

I also went to the chiropractor and had my weekly visit.

When I got home, I made Zuppa Tuscana soup for dinner.

The girls had soccer practice at 7pm.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
