Here is today's podcast in blog post form. :)

The other day, I received a Facebook message from a friend from back in our college days.  It read “Thank you for encouraging us to use Dave Ramsey’s debt free plan.  We are debt free and it feels amazing!  Only Jesus gave us extra snow for our snowball!”  She had heard our story of our journey of becoming debt free and it encouraged her to keep going.

Another message from a different college friend from September read, “Rebekah, I don’t know if I ever told you how much I appreciated your friendship in college.  I was insecure, which probably came off as unfriendly.  But, I looked up to you as someone I wanted to be like.  Thank you for your example!  You are one of the reasons I named my oldest daughter Rebekah.”

When we are living our lives day to day, the normal everyday things we do probably do not seem like a big deal.  I know I don’t go around doing what I do thinking…”I wonder if this person will remember this 20 years later – yes, that is how long ago I was a freshman in college! – that I did this for them?"  I would venture to say most of us don’t even think about that.

Because it the little things that do really make a big difference.  Remember the lad with the five loaves and two fishes?  That day, I am positive that he did not think when he packed his lunch…”One day, millions of people will know about this very lunch!”  It is not always on the day that we realize what impact our actions have had.  It could be decades later maybe.

So today’s challenge is:  Don’t get discouraged!  Just by being you, you are encouraging someone somewhere.  Go out and make a difference to someone today!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
