Treat the Real Problem

This week, I must have slept wrong or something.  I had this sharp shooting pain through my neck and shoulders.  It wasn't the kind that stemmed from your back needing aligned.  It felt more muscle related.  For three days, I was in misery.  Every time I tried to move, it triggered the spasms.  Then massive headaches.  I had my daughters massage my neck and shoulders, I stood in a hot shower, I took pain killers.  Nothing helped.

Then last night, I asked my husband to massage it.  He massaged and massaged my neck and shoulders with no relief.  I finally said try down farther.  Because it felt like it traveled down into the upper part of my back.  So he concentrated on that part - massaging and digging into my muscle.

After a little while, I could move my head and neck again!  It was sore but there was relief.  Today, it was tight this morning but has gotten much better through the day.

I thought...so often, we treat our symptoms.  We treat the part that seems to be hurting.  And it doesn't help.  When instead, we need to treat the place where the real issue is.

Are you lonely?  Depressed?  Hurt?  Angry?  Bitter?  Lost for direction?  Maybe you think it is a situation in your life or a person that is causing those symptoms.  Yes, that may be part but perhaps it is really because you have been neglecting your relationship with God.

HE is the one that will fulfill you, give you joy, love you unconditionally and dose out big vats of truth.

So just a reminder when something is flaring up in your life, look for what may be causing it.
Fix your relationship and walk with God and many of those horrible "symptoms" will seem to vanish. :)

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
