This week, I made these ham and swiss sliders and they were a hit! Yum, yum!
These would be perfect for a Sunday lunch - you can make them the night before and when you get home - throw them in the oven and they are done. :)
Have a pot of soup simmering in the crock pot and you have an easy and a fabulous meal!
Ham and Swiss Sliders
1 package dinner rolls
24 pieces deli ham
12 slices Swiss cheese (Slices)
1/3 cup mayo
For topping on the bun:
1/2 tbsp. poppy seeds
1-1/2 tbsp. yellow mustard
1/2 cup butter
1 tbsp. dried minced onion
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Spread mayo onto both sides of the center of each roll. Place a 2 slices of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet. Place very close together.
Melt butter. In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Use just enough to cover tops of sandwiches. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.
*Sandwiches can be assembled a day ahead and kept in the fridge ready to bake.
*For a variation, use Hawaiian rolls for a sweeter sandwich.
Baked Turkey & Cheese Sandwiches
My friend, Jenny, tried this recipe and recommended it to me. It is similar - a nice variation if you prefer turkey and not ham. Now you have two recipes to add to your dinner collection! :)
12 small sandwich buns
1 pound deli turkey
12 thin slices provolone cheese
1 stick butter
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. dried mustard
1 Tbsp. poppy seeds
1. Prepare sandwiches by dividing turkey and cheese evenly among buns.
2. Place sandwiches on a rimmed baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
3. In a small saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium high heat.
4. Remove from heat and pour over sandwiches.
5. Cover with foil and refrigerate sandwiches overnight. (*Note: This step can be eliminated if necessary.)
6. Uncover sandwiches and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
