Easter Flashbacks

For Friday's Flashback, I thought I would share photos and tidbits of past Easters of our church ministry. :)

Easter 2011

Our Easter Sunday was a wonderful day! The weather was decent...but windy, windy, windy!!! We held our services at the Hampton Inn and Suites - our old meeting place. I walked in to the conference room and said..."Did this place shrink??" It seemed so small! LOL! We had 58 for the morning service so it was a full house. :) Thank you to the ladies and men who sang in our group - "Because He Lives"! What a great song! We still held Sunday School...one class even met in the bathroom of the extra suite that we had rented! My daughter said she sat on the handicapped seat in the shower! LOL! My husband and I loved it! What fun and sweet memories we are making!

After the services, we had a delicious potluck meal. We also had one young lady get baptized in the hotel swimming pool! More neat memories! :) After the meal, we went to a nearby park and held an egg hunt for all the children. Most of the eggs didn't blow away. ;)

Easter 2012

What a wonderful day at Sierra View Baptist Church!
We had a packed-out house breaking our attendance record-
we had 99 folks in attendance this morning!
After a great morning service with Bro. James teaching the adults and teens...many, many brand new visitors...a wonderful message by my husband...we had a potluck and Easter egg hunt for the children. It was a special Easter Sunday for our church family.

A year ago on Easter Sunday, our church was "homeless". We had been meeting at an elementary school and the janitor who worked for us on Sunday-quit. So we were told that we were not able to use their facility anymore. On Easter Sunday 2011, we met in the conference room at the Hampton Inn. We held Sunday School and nursery in a hotel room. One of the Sunday School classes even met in the bathroom of the hotel room!

And now, just a year later, we are blessed to have a building and our highest attendance. Praise the Lord!

Easter 2013
Again, we were in another transition of our ministry!  We were meeting in a temporary space while our space was going through renovations.

Easter 2014

We recently moved into a new building in Stead.  We started the year with our Grand Opening in March with 191 folks attending.  Easter, we had 187 in all.  We praise God for his continual blessings on our ministry!
(I only had photos of decor!  That is usually what happens.  I get busy and forget pictures on the actual day. :)

Easter 2015

We began with a potluck brunch at 9:45am.  I made a cheesy ham and potato casserole in the crock pot and snack size Egg McMuffins.  It was followed by our morning service at 11am.  The singing was awesome, the attendance was full with 172 and the sermon was great!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour to end.  You have 45 minutes each week to impact that little life.  Make e
