Here is today's podcast in blog post form. :)

Melody versus words.  When you hear a song over and over, perhaps on a commercial or in a store somewhere, what sticks in your head?  The melody of the song.  Sure, you may remember a line or two but it is mainly the melody of the song that sticks.

My husband and I are doing a Q&A on parenting at our church for our Parenting series.  And boy, isn’t rearing kids not easy?  It is really one of the most difficult things in life to take on.  Yet in all the philosophy and methods that come with parenting is something that we all need. Who we really are.

That is melody.  The melody that is played when we live life.  You see, we can say all the words we want to to our kids and teens.  But that isn’t what they may walk away with when they grow up and leave our home.  They will walk away with the melody that our life played.  They will remember did Mom and Dad’s words match up with their life they lived?

Wow.  That is pretty intense.  Do we say “Read the Bible” or do we actually read the Bible ourselves?  Do we say “Go to church” and then skip out for family time, vacations or even work?  We have a huge responsibility.  We are molding our children’s lives – yes, some, by what we teach them and our words.  But way more in how we live – our melody.

So today’s challenge is…evaluate your words and then your melody.  Make them both equally strong and make them match.  Because when you put both the melody and the words together, you have a beautiful thing.  And beautiful things will happen when you do the same in life.

Will you take the challenge?
