Sauder Village Tour: Weaving Shop

One of my favorite places is Sauder's Village in Archbold, OH.

Take with a walk through time in Ohio's largest historic village that captures Ohio life 1803 to 1928. Hear stories shared by historically costumed guides in historic homes and shops, take a ride on the Erie Express train, visit animals in the farmyard and marvel at working craftsmen blending skill and creativity in glass, metal, fiber, wood and clay.

I lost my photos for our last visit to the village :( that I wanted to share with you. So I will be sharing ones weekly from their FB page as they highlight "SauderVillageABC".

W is for Weaving Shop.

When you enter our Weaving Shop, you’ll hear the steady rhythm of the rise and fall of the harnesses, the shuttle being sent back and forth through the warp, and the beater bar being thrown to tighten the weave. All this happens under the careful hands of our skilled weavers who share their insights into this craft as they turn rags into beautiful rugs.

Watch our weaver at work on the 1862 two-harness barn farm loom — a loom that was found in most homes many years ago. Weaving threads into fabric continues the steps started in the Spinning Shop on the road to making clothing for the family

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
