Car Repair Praises!

Figaro enjoying some time in the backyard.

Progression of my plants in the backyard. :)

The cantaloupe plant...not so well. :(

Green onions are small but coming up!

Tuesday evening, we had dinner at our house - parmesan chicken, hash brown casserole, and corn along with strawberry shortcake. :)
Then we went to Jacquith Park and watched Jack's baseball game.

After the game, we said goodbye to Papa and Bevy.  They were heading out in the morning to Idaho.

Papa enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies my sister made them. :)

Thursday, no piano lessons.  Aunt Rhoda was at Junior Camp this week.
We mowed and trimmed the lawn.  It was getting long.
Summer's softball practice was canceled due to coach schedule conflicts.
I made crockpot sausage, red potatoes and green beans for dinner.
Then we went over to Adam and Rachel's to celebrate Jack's 11th birthday which was on Monday.  We had brownie sundaes and played a game.

One of the best things about this week...we have been having several problems with our two vehicles.  With my Volvo, the power steering was leaking.  The mechanic we usually go to told us the power steering pump needed to be replaced but he didn't do that on my car.  So I made an appt. with a Volvo specialist.  Upon examining it, they let me know it wasn't the pump - only the O ring.  Saved me a LOT of money and now my Volvo is having no problems anymore!

Then we took our Chevy Cruze to a different local mechanic shop here in Newberg.  It had a bad oil leak and also leaking coolant.  Our normal mechanic said it had to do with the engine - it was too big of a job to mess with and my options were sell it ASAP or drive it until it dies.  And he couldn't figure out where the coolant was leaking...bring it back if it starts again. :(

Can you say this really had me down.  I mean, who wants to put money into purchasing another used car - especially when the economy is so upside down?  I thought what would it hurt to get a second opinion.  So we did and Thursday, it was all fixed!

With a simple test, they found the coolant leak and fixed that problem.  It was a heater hose.

They also found the problem for the leaking oil!  Which was the valve cover gasket.  They did a fuel injection clean on the system and also replaced a knock sensor.

I have never been so pleased, happy and grateful this week to the Lord!  For leading me to the right shops and ones who could diagnose and fix my auto problems.  He takes care of us and I don't have to worry when my daughters drive the vehicles to work and so forth!

So on that happy note, here is a happy video of a happy dog. :)

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
