Autumn's Graduation Trip-Part 2

After we arrived, we decided to go downtown Pensacola.

This is the bay.

St. Augustine is named the oldest settlement in America in 1565.  Because it is the oldest continuously occupied settlement, it holds the title instead of Pensacola.  Even though Pensacola was settled six years earlier in 1559.  Still, pretty cool that we will be tied to the two oldest settlements living here.  St. Augustine is very close to Jacksonville.

General Andrew Jackson received West Florida from Spain and raised the flag of the US. July 17, 1821.
To recall the flags of five nations that have been raised turn ten times over Pensacola.
Recalling that here was the center of life of the town and of the province of West Florida during the greater part of the colonial era.
Jackson was Florida's first territorial governor.

Little shops downtown.

Ever stayed in a hotel where you could see into the room from the outside?  That was our room at this "remodeled" Comfort Inn.  I requested a new room.  You could literally see our beds!
That hotel was a nightmare.

Cheapest gas we had seen in a while!

Ate some yummy Mexican food downtown.

Some quiet time before everyone got up.

Mother's Day 2023

I just love their chocolate shakes!

I don't know why but this meal hit just right!

Gifts they gave out in church for Mother's Day.

Pensacola Beach

So nice to enjoy the beach, sun, and sand!
