Goodbye April!

Here we are at the end of April!  Our first April in Florida.  And I loved it!  Even in the last week of April, it is still in the 50's, dreary and rainy in Oregon.  I am so happy to be soaking up the sunshine and warm temperatures here in Florida this April!

April was a busy month.  One of the biggest events was going to Ohio to help my mom and dad after my dad had a stroke.  I am grateful it worked out for me to do so.

A few more 2024 goals that were completed:

I got new glasses and contacts.  I had my prescription updated to progressives and that has helped a lot.

I visited my parents one time in Ohio so far for this year.

Preparation for college with Autumn is well underway!  CLT exam and entrance exams done, forms submitted, fees paid and more.

We attended College Days at PCC.

I purchased my garden beds and am setting up my garden this week.

We got furniture and decorated my bedroom.

I joined a couples small group at church.

I am up to date on The Bible Recap with my Bible reading.

We finished our contributions to Autumn's college fund!!  And not only that, we also finished our contributions to Sierra's college fund!!!!  That was a very unexpected goal met that I really didn't think we could do but so excited we did.

I am behind on my classics reading but will be able to catch up after school is done.

Goodbye April!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
