Goodbye October!

Wow!  October has flown by!  Between school, starting the Friday job, ending all our fall birthdays, starting of Awana, fall activities, Mom's visit and more - it has been a very busy month! What was your favorite memory this October?

Mom's Visit 2021: Day 6

On Monday, October 25th , the kids did school until noon.  While they were doing school, Mom made her sugar cookies all morning. We then came over to Rachel's and had lunch-leftover tacos and potatoes. The kids played games and hung out with Nana. Rachel and I made parmesan crusted chicken , hash brown casserole , Seven-Layer salad , and bread/rolls.

Mom's Visit 2021: Day 5

Sunday, October 24th , the family attended our morning church service with us. :) After church, we had a delicious Sunday lunch of ham, mashed potatoes, noodle gravy, Caesar salad and rolls/bread .  For dessert, we had cherry cheesecake . After lunch, we cleaned up and some watched football.  Some played games or just relaxed and talked. Our families had to be back at the church that evening for Awana and Youth Group.  Mom came along and sat in Rachel's class.

Mom's Visit: Day 4-Cannon Beach

After visiting the Astoria Column, we went to Cannon Beach to see the ocean. :)  There was actually no wind which happens not very often.  Makes it much more pleasant to visit! Down to Haystack Rock. One of my favorite photos from the day. Cannon Beach - Pacific Ocean

Mom's Visit 2021: Day 4-Astoria Column

After lunch and Pier 39, we went to the Astoria Column there in Astoria. This spot gives amazing views of Astoria, the bridge to Washington and the Columbia River.  You can even see where the Columbia meets the Pacific Ocean. I love thinking about Lewis and Clark coming down this very part of the river on their explorations.  What a neat part of history! The view of the bridge is really cool from up here. View of down below if you climb to the top of the tower. Mom and Rachel down below. The column has the history of the area with dates and pictures - very neat!

Mom's Visit 2021: Day 4-Mo's & Pier 39

Saturday, October 23rd was the only day that everyone had off work.  So we made that a big family day out.  We headed to the coast and the colors along the way were so beautiful!  This has been such a beautiful fall.  I wish I could have gotten more photos along the way but the windows were too fogged up and the road too windy and bumpy. We first went to eat lunch - Mo's there in Astoria.   It was right on the river which was really neat looking at the ships while we ate.  I had the fish and chips which come with a cup of their clam chowder.  Delicious! I really liked this location.  Not busy and a lot of spacious seating.  Very clean too. My fish and chips. :)  Of course with malt vinegar! Mo's from the outside.  Out on a dock! Then we drove to another pier - Pier 39 to check it out.  Yes, you park on the pier. The girls at first thought this was a pirate ship.  LOL! The cousins. The skies actually cleared and we...
