Goodbye October!

Goodbye October!   October has always been my favorite month - the height of everything autumn!  Pumpkins, apples, corn mazes, baking, flannels, apple cider, and more. October marks two full years that our family has lived here in the Pacific Northwest.  This is our third October here in Oregon.  When we lived in Nevada, you had to travel to California to be able to go to an orchard.  Here in Oregon, they are all over!  So many to choose from and it is neat.  :) I hope you enjoyed the month of October and are looking forward to the new month and the upcoming holidays.

Smoky Days and Taco Casserole

Tried a new casserole last week - Taco Noodle Casserole. Here we go with another kid!  Have a lot of driving hours to get in...again! Look how big Jack is!  I can't get over how long he is. This isn't fog...it's smoke!  Wildfires. This spicy child!! Smoky sunset.

Devotional Thought: Portraits of a Savior-Exodus 2

Exodus 2:  Portraits of a Savior Similarities between Jesus and Moses: 1.  Both were a man of two worlds. 2.  Both were zealous. 3.  Both were a ruler and a judge. 4.  Both were humble. 5.  Both were uniquely educated. 6.  Both were God's representatives. 7.  Both were empowered. But - Moses's purpose was to pave the way for Christ! They were not in any way equal.  Moses existed to point to the Savior.  Lessons for Christian Leadership: Hebrews 3:3-6 1.  Christian leaders are servants. 2.  They are deferential to God. 3.  They are communal. 4.  They are testifying. 5.  They are faithful. Where do you have the opportunity to lead in the name of Christ?  How can you be more aligned with the example of Christ's leadership? Own your position of influence/leadership by naming it and writing out how you can imitate Christ in that role.

October Days and Lunch in the Park

School, school, and more school. Monday, October 17th, Sierra took her permit test and now has her driver's permit!  She has a year to get 100 hours of drive time before she turns sixteen. :) Can you see that fall suddenly arrived?  LOL! Enjoying some homemade apple pie a la mode! Jack has made himself at home...in his new home. :) Birthday shirt we got for Sierra. :) He is just a cute, old man. :) He's getting spoiled but I'm ok with that.  :) Don't you just like the fog and the fall colors? Another audiobook in the Kauffman series. A little lunch outing with my girls.  Sodas at McDonald's and footlongs from Subway. This made me laugh!  Defying the liberals here in Oregon. Great day to have lunch at the park.

Sierra's 15th Birthday

Happy birthday to our third daughter, Sierra, born on October 16th! The sun is so pretty coming through the leaves. After the sleepover Saturday evening, we went to church Sunday morning and then we had pizza for lunch.  Sierra opened her gifts and we had her favorite dessert - a vanilla-pineapple chilled dessert. Then the girls spent the afternoon and evening shopping at Powell's Bookstore and at several thrift stores.
