Ways to Give Back to the Leaders in your Church

Today's post is a shout out to those in your church who "make it happen".

Disclaimer:  I am a pastor's wife.  This is definitely not trying to get attention for my husband and I.  We have so many awesome people in our ministry that "make it happen" at SVBC!  It is dedicated to them and to those of you in the cyber world at your church.   You are loved and I thank you!

Maybe that is you.  Or maybe it is your pastor and pastor's wife.  Perhaps it is a lady or couple in your church that give all their heart, soul and time to the work of your church.

The church is the family of God.  It is a place where we work and serve together with a common goal - the Great Commission.

We are also in the same fight together against Satan.  We need to support each other.  We need to defend and encourage each other.

What can you do today to support that person or couple that "makes it happen" in your church?

Invite them to dinner in your home.
Take them to dinner at a restaurant.
Make them a meal on a busy night.
Make them a batch of homemade cookies.
Give them a gift card to go have a meal and a night off.
Babysit for their children for free.
Ask every week - what can I do to help you this week?
Stay faithful to your position/place in the ministry.
Give their children a small gift just because.
Write thank you notes of gratitude.
Bring them their favorite drink and snack.
Do a ministry errand for them during the week to ease their schedule.
Offer to give someone a ride for church or other ministry programs/activities.
Take note of big days on the church schedule.  Ask the person in charge of that activity - what can I do this week and on that day to be a volunteer for that activity?
Get involved in your church!
Pray every day for those people.

There are many more ways to support and bless those that "make it happen".  The devil wants to destroy us from within.  Don't let that happen!
Support, encourage, and defend your family of God.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
