How To Be Like Judas

In my Bible reading recently, I came across this verse..."And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him."  Matthew 26:16

We know that this is referring to Judas and Jesus.  I really don't want to use that story or even the entire verse.  I just want to take the one phrase...
"And from that time he sought opportunity".

I think the Lord is yearning for Christians who will live out this phrase.  The work of God is so immense in this world.  We will ALWAYS need more to seek opportunity.

I thought of a campaign that Awana is doing February and March.  The 60-in-60 campaign.  They have a goal of reaching 60,000 kids with the gospel in 60 days with the Awana program.  You can watch the video HERE!  It costs $10 to reach a child in a foreign country with the gospel.  SVBC's Awana club had a goal of raising $100.00 and sponsoring 10 kids.  Already, we have over $150.00.

What is the 60-in-60 all about really?  SEEKING OPPORTUNITY.  Wow.  That gives me goosebumps.  Seeking opportunity to make a change in this world for Christ.

But this post just isn't about 60-in-60.  It is to encourage YOU to SEEK OPPORTUNITY.  Where is the Lord directing you?  Does He want you to teach a Sunday School class or be a helper in Awana? Does He want you to give to missions?  Sing in the church choir?  Clean a classroom in the church?  Pick up someone and bring them to church with you?  There are SO many ways to seek opportunity.  It is up to you.

But the key word is seek.  Your pastor is waiting for people to say, Hey, I want to be involved!  Don't delay...seek today!

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
