Hiking in the snow in Glacier National Park, Montana.
Views from the other side of the lake on the hike back. You can hike on either side of Swiftcurrent Lake.
So...when we got to a certain part of the trail, it was CLOSED. We think it may be because a couple had told us they saw a bear. If they reported that to the rangers, they will close the trail due to bear activity. Well, for some reason, while we were at Grinnel Lake, they closed that part of the trail. So we had to go by the road to get back to the hotel and parking area. It made our hike even longer. Whew!
Because of this, we got a view of the hotel from a different side of the lake!
We did over 9 miles for that hike. For the day, I logged 27,269 steps which total 11.69 miles. Whew!!
Special memory of my father-in-law who loved doing this with us. :)
For dessert, I was excited to do an apple dump cake in the Dutch oven.
So this has never happened before. I bought a cheap off-brand of charcoal. Eric did TWO rounds of hot coals to cook my cake. It should have baked in the FIRST one. And it STILL didn't bake. It was still runny! Totally wasted.
Tip: Always buy good charcoal.
Rain was coming in that night so we packed up everything into the van minus the tents, sleeping bags, and our clothes for the next morning.
