Glacier National Park-Day 2E

After our hike, it was later than we planned so we headed out for our new campsite.  You see, they cut off going any farther on the Going-on-the-Sun Road at the Avalanche Creek Campground.  The campground was closed when we were there.
They were still clearing snow on the Going-to-the-Sun Road for the whole time we were there end of June/beginning of July!  I had been hoping it would have been completely open when I planned our trip but you just never know when you are dealing with mountain vacations.  This year, avalanches brought more snow down on the road and it was causing it to stay closed a little longer than normal.  So from the west entrance, you could only go about 13 miles in on the road and then had to turn back.

In fact, Avalance Lake trail was closed due to flooding and even on the drive there, it said closed.  That morning, we checked the trail with the park rangers and they told us it just opened back up that morning.  Hooray!  I was really hoping to do that trail on our trip and I'm so glad we did.

So we had to head back to West Entrance of the park and go all the way around the southern route outside of the park.  It was the only way to get around to the east side where our campground was located.  So that made our drive much longer - it is 90 miles having to go that way!

But you have never spent 90 miles of more beautiful scenery!

Amazing!

Breathtaking!

Those peaks!

We finally got to our new campground - a KOA right outside the St. Mary entrance of the park.  Everyone set up the tents and we unpacked the van.  Since it was later, I decided to do chicken nachos for dinner.
I had done the shredded chicken in the crockpot the day before we left - so it was just heating up the chicken and the nacho cheese and prepping the toppings.

Diced tomatoes, green onions, sliced black olives, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and pickled jalapenos.

The meat is the same recipe I use for chicken tacos.

I wasn't sure how much nacho cheese to bring.  Next time, I will open the can and just bring a smaller amount in the cooler for one meal.

Can you see the view from our campsite's picnic table?  Wow!

This was the first time I tried this meal for camping.  Honestly, I didn't think Eric would like it - he doesn't seem to think nachos are a meal.  Ha!  But everyone seemed to like it and made their own plate how they liked it.

Who can not love this view of a sunset?

The ending of day two.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
