Book Recommendation: Unfaithful - Hope and Healing After Infidelity

Today, I would like to recommend highly the book - Unfaithful - Hope and Healing After Infidelity
by Gary and Mona Shriver.

I love how the authors are willing to share their story with the reader.  You can truly grasp what they felt through their words.  They share great Biblical help on recovering from infidelity.

I gained two points from reading a book such as this...

1.  I vowed to make my personal marriage stronger.  I have not gone through what this couple has.  I don't need to.  Just reading about it inspired me to not choose the same path - not make the same mistakes - and how to make right choices.

2.  I feel it was a great help to me as a pastor's wife to be able to fully understand, comprehend and now better help those who may come to me with this same situation.  Many times, we not only feel inadequate in counseling those in infidelity - we are inadequate.  Resources such as this book can help us to better help those in our ministries.

If you are married, read this book.

If you have been involved in an affair, had a spouse in an affair, or know someone that has had an affair - read this book.  YOU need help.  You can find the source here.

If you are a ministry leader of any sorts or do any Christian counseling, read this book.

You May Abound In Hope

Today I completed a devotional book by Candace Cameron Bure.  100 Days of Joy and Strength.  I was struggling last night.  Darkness seemed to overwhelm me.  The last day of this devotional gave me exactly the encouragement I needed to go another day. Here are the verses she shared from God's Word. "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope."  Psalm 130:5 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;"  II Corinthians 4:8-9 "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.  Do not gloat over me, my enemy!  Though I have fallen, I will rise.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."  Micah 7:7-8 "I remain confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."...

Ten Tips for Sunday School Teachers

Ideas for Sunday School Teachers: 1.  Write a note to each student and mail it to their home. 2.  Visit the child in his home and bring a small treat. 3.  Make a special treat once a month for your students on Sunday. 4.  Have a Sunday School class activity on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 5.  Pray for your students. 6.  Have a monthly or quarterly contest for your students.  Include bringing their Bible, saying memory verses, attendance, etc.  Award small prizes. 7.  Have a special craft once a month. 8.  Rev up your teaching time!  Use props such as costumes, pictures, videos.  Make your lesson time come alive.  Teach your lesson 2-3 times during the week out loud – you will be amazed at how you will be able to teach it to your students – not just following the words in the book. 9.  After the lesson, be creative!  Students should not just be sitting and waiting for Sunday School hour ...
